How Well Do You Bounce Back?
Take this self-assessment to explore your current stress resilience.
Stress is unavoidable - but your ability to recover from it makes all the difference. This capacity is known as stress resilience, and it reflects how well your nervous system can return to baseline after disruption.
Some people are naturally resilient. Others are stuck in survival mode, running on adrenaline, pushing through exhaustion. Where are you today?
This self-assessment will help you reflect on the signs and symptoms of low resilience - and where your recovery capacity might need support.
Stress Resilience Self-Assessment
Answer each question honestly based on your experience over the past 2 weeks.
Use this scale:0 = Never, 1 = Occasionally, 2 = Frequently, 3 = Almost always
Daily Function & Energy
I wake up feeling rested.
I can get through the day without relying on caffeine.
My energy is steady (not crashing mid-afternoon).
I can wind down easily at night without feeling wired.
I bounce back from physical exertion fairly quickly.
Emotional Regulation
I can stay calm under pressure.
I notice when I’m starting to feel overwhelmed and can shift gears.
I don’t overreact to small things.
I can return to a peaceful state after conflict or stress.
I feel emotionally stable and even-keeled most days.
Cognitive Clarity
I can focus on one task at a time without distraction.
I remember words, names, and tasks easily.
I’m productive without needing to overwork.
I feel clear-headed, not foggy.
My thoughts are organized, not scattered or racing.
Recovery Habits
I get 7–9 hours of sleep most nights.
I eat balanced meals that support my energy.
I take breaks or pause when I feel mentally drained.
I prioritize time to relax, unplug, or connect.
I use supportive tools (breathwork, movement, hydration, nature) regularly.
Scoring
Add up your total score: 0–30 → Low Resilience You may be living in survival mode. Recovery is possible - and necessary.
31–45 → Moderate Resilience You're coping, but your system may be fraying at the edges. Some intentional support could go a long way.
46–60 → Strong Resilience You have solid recovery habits and nervous system strength. Stay consistent and keep building that foundation.
